We are extremely grateful to the many companies and organisations that are working in partnership nationally in order to assist Foodbanks and charities during this time.
It is expected that more people than ever will need to use our foodbank not only through the COVID-19 crisis but for many months to come and we have been running low on essential supplies. Due to a mixture of panic buying, supermarket item limits and the Government lockdown we are also, understandably, receiving fewer donations from our local community than normal.
In the face of increased need and reduced donations, we are hugely thankful that Sainsburys, British Gas, The Entertainer, Palletforce and XPO Logistics are working together alongside charities, the Trussell Trust and FareShare, to form part of a national solution to distribute food so Foodbanks can continue to support people most in need. Tesco is also donating £15 million of food to foodbanks and charities that will be distributed through this network.
This week we had our first delivery from Tesco, the photo shows just a small amount of that delivery, and this was all transported directly to our Warehouse by British Gas worker Nicky, who also ‘womanhandled’ much of it inside the warehouse for us. Nicky is shown above with our Foodbank Manager Debbie Morris.
This partnership working is an amazing national collaboration and is helping to provide vital supplies for our Shepway Foodbanks at Folkestone, New Romney and Lydd so we can continue to support our local communities. Thank you to all those involved in this collaboration, it really does feel like ‘we are in this together’.
